A VERY SPECIAL SPECIALTY

Mark your calendar for
Saturday, September 15, 2018,
and plan to join us for a Very SPECIAL Specialty!

Natural and man-made disasters occur every day, and they affect countless lives.  In 2017, there seemed to be nearly weekly disasters, and a lot of people needing help--hurricanes, fires, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes--and we are sure that many have donated on their behalf.  On Sunday night, October 8th, the lives of many in Sonoma and Napa Counties were changed forever, including the Parks family.  Cody, a firefighter for CalFire, the California Division of Forestry and Fire Protection was at work fighting one of the fires that had started that evening.  His wife, Jessica, a nurse at the local hospital, was at home with their young children, Carson and Salem, when the call came evacuate as a firestorm was threatening their Coffey Park home.  Jess put the children and two dogs in the car, and drove through the fire toward safety.  That night, the Parks’ home with all their possessions burned to the ground.

This was the story of many people over those days of fire here in Northern California.  The only difference is that this family is ours.  Many people in the local dog community as well as the larger national Siberian Husky fancy have known Jessica since she was born and watched her grow up at dog shows, and we have known her mother, Judy Tamagni even longer.  To us, this is not a tragic story of a family’s loss; but a very real story of our friends’ loss.

We have come up with way to help the Parks family, and want to invite the dog community and Siberian fancy to join us in our effort.  On Saturday, September 15, 2018, the NCSHC will hold a very special specialty show to benefit Carson and Salem and their parents.  Siberian Breeder-Judge Ann Mariah Cook from New Hampshire will judge this Specialty. Thanks to our partners, the Sir Francis Drake Kennel Club, we plan to hold this specialty concurrent with their show, and they are donating the ring for our use.  It is our goal to solicit donations to cover all expenses, so that all money received can be donated to the family.  We are planning a raffle/auction, and perhaps some special fund raising events; again, with all proceeds going to the Parks family.

So, how can you help?  First of all, if you can, please join us.  The Lake-Drake cluster is 4-days of dog shows, from Thursday, September 13th through Sunday, September 16th, at the beautiful Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo.  If you offer goods or services, we would appreciate a donation to our raffle and auction.  If you can’t join us but want to participate, catalog ads and donations will be gratefully accepted, and we thank you for your generosity and support.  Please realize we are not asking for donations to a 501 (c) (3) charity complete with tax deductions.  We are just Siberian folks helping members of our dog family.
